Play games with your Nseries device

With the launch of N-Gage for N81 users earlier in the week, game-fever is in the air, and so The Unofficial Nokia Blog have put together a list of 12 games that no S60 user should be without!

The list runs through a variety of game types including 3D games, sports games and role players, so there should be something to pique your interest. Each game includes a brief run-down of its content, as well as a link so you can find out more and of course, get your hands on it.

James Burland at Nokia Creative has come up with an excellent way to make your N82 and N95 images look top notch.

Having noticed some color issues with murky shadows and washed out highlights, James suggests that a great way round this is to utilise Duotone to bring the images to life. If you have some great images suffering color issues, it could just save them from languishing unseen and then, as James invites you to do, why not upload them to the N82 or N95 flickr groups?!

Those of you out there who are fans of VoIP are no doubt au fait with Fring, the free to use client for your Nseries device.

The latest update to the application has brought with it a number of updates, including support for multiple languages. Most exciting however, is the new file-swapping capability which, as Erick Schonfeld at the Ajax Blog says, starts to bring it inline with the functionality of similar PC based solutions.

The ever useful Symbian Freak also carry this news along with a download link and link to the subject in their forum.

Take your Nseries on the road

Coops at NokNok has put together a feature on using your Nseries device to compliment your driving experience.

The article covers entertainment, navigation and even keeping an eye on the angle of your vehicle while off-road. All Nseries devices should make any journey a little more fun, though Coops does note that those with a GPS module and accelerometer have added talents for you to use.

Stefan at IntoMobile has posted a very interesting interview from Beet.tv in which Jeff Jarvis is interviewed on his thought that devices such as the N95 and N82, along with their video capabilities and services such as Qik, could revolutionize the nature of news.

With the multimedia focus of Nokia Nseries devices, one topic that constantly rears its head is that of memory cards. Do you need them? How well do they work? What size is best? Luckily for you, Mark Guim at The Nokia Blog has cleared up some of these questions…

Whether you want to store music, videos or copious amounts of PDFs, then a large memory card is a must and Mark muses on the dropping prices of storage, as well as how to get the best transfer speeds.

In the list of cool and useful things you can do with the Nseries device you carry around every day, this has got to appear right near the top.

Jay3gsm has written on his Nokia Nseries blog about Joikusoft, an application that allows your device to operate as a Wifi hotspot so that external devices can use the 3G connection of say, an N95, just as if it were any other WLAN connection. There is a current issue with a lack of any encryption options, though since the app is at the Beta stage this will hopefully be added for the final version. What possibilities does this open up? Have a look also, at IntoMobile , where Stefan has posted some screen-shots of the application in use.

Buzz on the forums

A couple of comparisons for you to muse over this evening. First up, there’s some good talk about the best browser solution for the N95 going on at N95 Users. As expected Opera makes a good showing, but the bundled browser certainly holds its own. If you’re looking for a change in the way you experience the web through your device, this is worth a look.

Taking a step further into the portable web, the guys at Internet Tablet Talk are discussing the relative merits of the N800 and the iPhone/iPod touch. A lot of the conversation centers on which each device can and can’t do, so it’s a good introduction to the beginner, or for those looking to see what they’ve yet to discover!
