Yes, we are talking about a Nokia product. Yes, this device has 3G technology. Yes, this has a SIM card slot. No, it is not a mobile phone. If you are still reading this, and we sure bet you are, then there is no doubt that the curiosity of seeing a Nokia made laptop is just far too strong to resist. After all, Nokia tends to create some of the oddest and out of this world mobile phone designs that one cannot help but take a gander at their wares every now and then even for the sake of being amused and befuddled at their contraptions.

Of course, if you are expecting to feel the same way about a mini laptop made by Nokia, prepare for the most delightful surprise, this mini laptop is made to blow your mind! The Nokia Booklet 3G has a high definition display, integrated SIM and 3G technology, excellent design, powerful hardware and all in a tight, slim and tech-sexy package that will make you wonder why other computer manufacturers cannot achieve the same results.

It is a Nokia

3G and SIM compatibility are obviously mobile phone technologies that were added into the mini laptop in order to expand its functionality. This is a very smart feature by Nokia. 3G will allow users to connect to the internet when LAN and wireless LAN access is unavailable. 3G is also reported as having a lower battery consumption rate so expect that promised 12 hours of battery life to meet your expectations.

Lastly, having the hot-swappable SIM makes things all the more easier.?  Did we mention that the Booklet also has A-GPS? Not exactly mini enough to serve as an on-the-go navigation device, but this is still more than what you would normally expect from a laptop.

The Future is HD

High definition monitors and television sets are becoming more and more common these days. In fact, even standard broadcast channels are switching to HD quality. Pretty soon, standard definition will be as obsolete as monochrome monitors, and the Booklet is prepared for this change. As compared to the usual DVi output port found in most laptops, the Booklet uses an HDMI output, this make this mini laptop fully compatible with a great majority of devices being released between now and the future. This slight change is major sign that Nokia is making wise and bold moves by entering into the computer market, they may be new, but they know what they are doing.

Looks that Count

The thing about laptops, particularly mini laptops, is that you buy them to bring them around. If you are looking for a laptop to serve as your dedicated at-home desktop unit, then you probably should not be looking at minis. Mini laptops are used because you are on the go and you need a computer you can carry around with you, but you need something that looks good, after all, other people will see you using it.

Nokia knows this and made sure that the Nokia Booklet 3G is a device you can be proud of. Sleek form, excellent casing texture and the black glass display all make this mini a beautifully made wonder.

If the Nokia Booklet 3G takes your fancy then why not take a look at some of the Nokia Booklet 3G contracts that are on offer for 12 month terms as well as Booklet 3G with cashback contracts.

Let’s take a look at three phones that sum the current war between new OS Android, and incumbent player Symbian, to see who makes the better mobile phone.

Nokia 5530

First on the roster is a whole new member of Nokia’s Xpress range of music mobile phones, the mouth-watering Nokia 5530. This phone is pretty obviously designed for music and video; you can tell by the dedicated XpressMedia touch-key that pops up a list of links to music, videos, the web, and more. Oh, and the Nokia 5530 has a beautiful, touch-sensitive display, to actually play with all your media content. Essentially, the Nokia 5530 was designed as a teeny portable entertainment centre, and as music devices go, this is easily one of the prettiest. The Nokia 5530 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data access and GPS, so that it’s a superb all-round mobile phone, as well as a superb media box.

Samsung i8910 HD

Next, there’s the Samsung i8910 HD, and it has one big advantage over the other two. Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Maybe not…), the Samsung i8910 HD captures high-def video at the exact quality that Youtube display high-def videos at. It’s very possible that the Samsung i8910 HD was designed with its main feature being the ability to get yourself on Youtube, in high-definition. Combine that with the sumptuous 3.7 inch screen, and a huge 8Gb of internal memory, and it’s very clear that the Samsung i8910 HD deserves to be one of the phones of the year!

HTC Hero

So, there’s the Samsung i8910 HD, which relies on its awesome camera and video skills. And then, there’s the Nokia 5530, which wows you with its Symbian OS and its music playback. However, there’s an open source alternative to those two. Android is trying to take over the world, and its new home is the beautiful HTC Hero. It has all the good stuff that made the first Android phone (the G1) good, but puts it all in a touchscreen-only body, which is both sleek and sexy. Since the keyboard has been removed, the HTC Hero also has a full, onscreen keyboard, and a sumptuous new interface called Sense. You also get the Android Marketplace, which lets you download and install third party apps to your HTC Hero, and it ends up creating a smartphone that really can morph into whatever you want it to be. Based purely on that logic, the HTC Hero ably demonstrates just why Android is such a threat to the incumbent operating systems.

Cool Features Of Nokia N96

Nokia N96 can be considered as a true powerhouse with different types of advanced features and applications. It is the best converged gadget of its time. With N96, Nokia is aiming at topping the mobile manufacturing industry. There are hardly any other mobile phone companies which can compete with Nokia and N96 can not be compared to any other mobile phone in the market. There are several advanced features which makes this cell phone unique.

The design of this mobile phone is inspired by Nokia’s previous model N95. With the dual-sliding feature like N95, this phone is a much lighter and sleek gadget. The 2.8 QVGA display covers most of the area of the front of the hand set. This hand set supports 16 million colors, like the iPhone, and has an extremely colorful display. The mobile can be used and is readable in any kind of lighting condition. At the top of the phone is a VGA camera which is front facing and the earpiece. The navigation cluster is at the bottom of the phone, which has the left and right soft keys, the end key, the menu key, the clear key, multimedia key and the d-pad which is five way. The multimedia control is hidden and appears when the cell phone lights up.

The dial pad has 12 keys which appears when you slide the phone. It has a wide keypad which makes dialing easier as compared to other technologically advanced phones. The screen orientation changes to landscape with a downward slide and you can see the media keys which can be helpful for gaming controls as well. The stereo speakers are located at the right side of the hand set at the top and the bottom and on the left side has the covered slot for microSDHC. The top of the hand set has the 3.5 mm headphone jack, power button and the lock switch. The data port is at the bottom of the phone which can also be used for charging the cell phone.

The back of the phone is black in color and is made up of plastic which is a little surprising in such an advanced phone. The 5 mega pixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens is displayed prominently and has a silver lining around it. N96 has a double LED flash light which is better than N95’s single LED flashlight, however the Xenon is missing. N96 is a tall, wide and an advanced phone with a sleek look which can be an important factor for its marketing.

Nokia X6

At long last Nokia is releasing a handset with both looks and brains. A rare cocept indeed.

It seems now that Nokia’s design department has changed personal or else had a revamp and changed direction with their ideas. Ten to fifteen years ago Nokia was top of the tree in the mobile phone handset league. Their phones were the most stylish and hence the most popular. Their main competitor in those days was Ericsson who in my opinion had better technology, but the handsets did not look half as nice always resembling a brick no matter what the size. As we all know Ericsson joined with Sony. The Ericsson technology and the Sony designs resulted into a serious competitor for Nokia. And strangely to me Nokia started to change the appearance of their phones making not such appealing models in design. This allowed the Sony Ericsson combination to eat into Nokia’s dominance. But now I think that perhaps Nokia have realised this and woken up. Just take a look at the X series phones, the X6 and the X3.

Scheduled for release in the 4th quarter of 2009 the X6 has a perfectly timed release for Christmas time. And this handset will most definitely find itself on many Christmas shopping lists and in many Christmas stockings this year. It comes in two colour schemes of either Black/Red or White/Blue with a price tag of approximately ??450.It is not the cheapest of handsets out there in the market but by jove it is certainly one of the most sleek looking. This is a phone you will be happy to be seen out with. Lets hope the phone is as successful as predicted and Nokia continue to develop looks in this vein.

Ok so now lets take a quick look at the fundamentals of the X6. The X6 is a development forward on the 5800 Xpressmusic phone. You can purchase the normal X6 or the version that ?“comes with music?”, allowing you unlimited music downloads. The X6 is a lot sleeker than the 5800.The display screen is very similar but the inbuilt camera has been upgraded to a 5 mega pixel and the non expandable memory has been increased to 32GB.The X6 is a 3G phone with tri band and is being promoted by Nokia as a media player. There is Bluetooth stereo and the phone has its own speakers. Fm radio is inbuilt. The web browser comes with Flash lite support and the email client supports all standard protocols.

The music player on the handset is a Nokia Nseries digital music player. This has play lists, 8 band graphical equaliser, album graphics, bass booster, stereo widening, loudness and selection by either artist or genre. The music playback file formats are ; mp3, SPMidi, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA. And the ring tones consist of ; 3D stereo ring tones, 64-tone polyphonic

, mp3 & video ring tones (3 videos and 9 mp3 songs built-in)

This latest handset from Nokia has the looks and the brains. A very rare combination indeed. We feel it will be a huge success and have an above average lifespan on the majority of handsets in similar categories out there just now.
